There’ve been some changes made

Posted: October 30, 2012 in 21st Century

Our Road Stories section of our Official Sparkling Apple Website has undergone some changes following the discontinuation of JS-Kit/Echo blog comments. Support for iWeb has been pulled, and therefore, the handy-dandy comments area at the bottom of each page has now unceremoniously disappeared. At the moment, the space that was once reserved for your comments is now blank. Not only that, but the user comments were prevoiusly entered are now gone. Oh dear! So, a suitable replacement is in the process of being installed by our crack team of web designers (me!). What does this mean to you, the viewer? Very little, if you haven’t been paying attention to our website! However, those of you who do wish to leave Facebook-style comments and/or nasty remarks on the website are asked to be patient while we reconfigure the site. Of course, the good old Sparkling Apple Official Blog is thankfully still in operation, so let’s hear from you! This offer will not be repeated. We repeat, this offer will not be repeated.

The actual page from our Road Stories section — chock full of reminiscences and tales of terror, of Life On the Road in a rock n roll band. Not for queasy or easily disturbed individuals.

From Greg the Egg in Prince George:

“If you go to, that is that is where the Campus and Community Radio website is.They have nationwide Charts. If you get to the Top 50 page you will see
listings for other Charts.Hip Hop/Jazz etc. If you click on LOUD you will see the National Chart. If you click on the CFUR link,it will take you to that Chart.SPARKLING APPLE is
listed there. It deserves it.It is the Music Director who has the final say.Hopefully you can find the Chart.”

In short, we’re number one on the Loud Chart!

Just in case you missed our CD release party in July where we gave away free Sparkling Apple CDs with door admission, Hard Core Apple will most assuredly be on sale at Donegal’s for your pre-Christmas purchases. A cool stocking stuffer for those rockers on your list!

Slight Adjustment!

Any graphic design is fair game for revision, so our Double Header poster is no exception. After our first design was evaluated, we were asked to “put a picture of each band in the poster, and a contact number”. The above poster reflects those changes: nifty photos of Sparkling Apple and House Party now adorn the artwork. Additionally, we’ve also added a contact number for tickets: Joe Staples (bassist in House Party) at 778-999-3069. I was reluctant to include my cell phone number on the poster, so if you wish to reach me for tickets, contact me at, including your name & phone number (or email address), and how many tickets you require. We have a couple of other sources for tickets, namely Rosielynn Crosby and Kevin Stuart Swain, both of whom can be messaged on Facebook. And speaking of Facebook, those of you who are members of that particular social media can access our event page HERE.

It has come to our attention that if we are charging admission to what is normally a bar with no cover charge, so with that in mind, this is now a Private Party (although everyone from far & wide is invited). Maybe we should invite the neighbours – if they don’t show up but still complain about the noise, we can tell them, “Well, we DID invite you”!

Just Announced!

Just announced: a double bill featuring Sparkling Apple with special North Vancouver guests (and that city’s most popular rockers), House Party! An upcoming spot on Sparkling Apple‘s Steel Wheelchairs Rehab Tour 2012 will be ONE NIGHT ONLY at Donegal’s on 12054 – 96th Avenue in beautiful downtown Surrey, BC. Performing songs from their best-selling CD, Hard Core Apple (now available online worldwide), Sparkling Apple is eager to hit the stage with Drunk Rock 2012 (you have be to drunk to play it and drunk to appreciate it). On hand to celebrate the festivities will be drummer Captain Maniac, guitarist Art the Fart the Heavy Metal Kid, and just returned from The Remedy’s recent Alberta tour, bassist Kevin Stuart Swain.

Just in case you missed our CD release party in July where we gave away free Sparkling Apple CDs with door admission, Hard Core Apple will most assuredly be on sale at Donegal’s for your pre-Christmas purchases. A cool stocking stuffer for those rockers on your list!

Donegal’s Irish House has reluctantly but wholeheartedly agreed to host this exercise in bacchanalian debauchery and hard-rocking musical mayhem, to be held on Saturday, December 1st, 2012. Tickets will be on sale soon from the amazing Joe Staples, and you, dear readers, will be the first to know when these tickets are available.

Two posters have been designed for this event so far, courtesy of our crack team of graphic artists — the one at the top of the page, and a second version seen below. When it was suggested that we’re holding a “double header”, mention was made of the old b-movie “The Thing With Two Heads” starring Ray Milland and Rosey Grier. Therefore, a tribute to the old movie poster was created:
